Quad State Bass Club is the vision of Founder and Charter President, Mr. Thomas Campbell Sr. In August 1994 Quad State Bass Club was organized to promote competitive bass fishing, sportsmanship, and fellowship among African American anglers by hosting two (2) tournaments annually within a four state region that included Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma with Missouri joining Quad State several years later. Quad State tournaments are hosted in April and October at different lakes located within the Quad State’s region. Within five years of organizing, Quad State expanded and became a federation of twenty-three(23) amateur bass clubs, with over 300 members located in Texas(6), Arkansas(3), Oklahoma(1), Louisiana(4), Missouri(3), Mississippi(1), Tennessee(1), Alabama(1), Kansas(1), Nebraska(1), Indiana(1). With the expansion, also came more bass clubs, more anglers, more lakes and a bigger dispute of a state’s bragging rights! Although Quad State started with an African American male membership, it now includes amateur anglers of all races and gender.
In August 1994 the following persons were elected to serve as the Charter Executive Board of Quad State Bass Club:
President: Thomas Campbell Sr. Vice-President: John Nichols
Secretary: Linda Crook Treasurer: Bill Evans
Tourn. Director: James Ashton; Sargent of Arms:Glen Frazier
Corres. Secretary: Delores Adams Women Cord:Veronica Ashton
Our motto is: “TAKE CARE OF OUR LAKES AND LANDS – THEY DON’T BELONG TO US —WE’RE MERELY BORROWING THEM FROM OUR KIDS”.
In keeping with our motto; Quad State strongly promotes and practices “Conservation and Preservation” through our CATCH & RELEASE program and outdoor education for future fishermen. As part of Quad States’ outdoors education program, Quad State host many “HOOKED ON FISHING – NOT ON DRUGS” Youth fishing derbies in each affiliated state through the local clubs. Each member club has obligated themselves to contribute full support in promoting family unity, with a great deal of emphasis put toward getting the youth “HOOKED ON FISHING – NOT ON DRUGS”. For their participation, the youth are rewarded with their own rod & reel, tackle box combo and a lifetime education in fishing for their own enjoyment, hobby, or sport — and the Quad State anglers are greatly honored in knowing that they have given back to their community. Quad State Bass Club continues to leave its footprint in every community we visit by making charitable donations to local charities picked by the host club, in an effort to help impact “One Community at a Time”!
From a fisherman’s point of view – “Never has so much been on the end on a line”!! GOD Bless!
